How to Apply

Applications for admission to the PCC’s Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training program and Psychoanalysis Training program are accepted throughout the year. Matriculated students can be admitted in either the fall or spring semester. There is one application process regardless of the training program selected.

Applicants who are accepted may matriculate in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training program and/or the Psychoanalysis Training program. Students choose their training program(s) after they are accepted and may begin coursework before making their choice.

Application Deadlines

Fall Admission: Applicants who would like to begin matriculation in the fall semester must submit their application materials by March 15.

Spring Admission: Applicants who would like to begin matriculation in the spring semester must submit their application materials by September 15.

The Admissions process will include a series of interviews that will assess eligibility and suitability for training and, for clinical applicants, clinical aptitude. These interviews are required to be completed in person. Each applicant for the training programs must satisfy the Admissions Committee as to the integrity of character and potential for personal maturation.

Unified Admissions Process

Students who are accepted into the training programs may pursue training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and/or psychoanalysis. Students choose their training program(s) after they are accepted and may begin coursework before making their choice.

Our program is affiliated with the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsA), which accredits our psychoanalysis training program. According to APsA guidelines, psychoanalysis students must meet certain prerequisites to begin their psychoanalysis training. Therefore, depending on each individual’s training and experience, some students who decide to pursue a psychoanalysis certificate may need to complete some of the psychoanalytic psychotherapy training first.
