The Seasoned Clinician’s Notebook:
How Psychoanalytic Concepts Inform the Practice of Psychotherapy
Natalie Peacock-Corral, MSW, LCSW, CGP
Presenter

This is the second in a series that features clinicians from a range of disciplines who will share how they use concepts from psychoanalysis to enrich their clinical work, from cultivating creativity to working with addictions. All are welcome, at no cost, to learn from these experienced psychotherapists. CEUs will not be offered for these events, but Letters of Attendance will be sent.

About the presenter:  Natalie Peacock-Corral, MSW, LCSW, CGP

“Love is so short, forgetting is so long”: Healing losses through the transformative power of relational and attachment-based treatment

Within this presentation, Natalie Peacock-Corral will describe her journeys with three patients: a patient destroyed by his mother’s terminal illness at a young age, a patient who was heartbroken by the loss of his mother and brother, and a patient who grieved the loss of never having been loved by his parents.

A riveting multi-media Powerpoint presentation will illustrate an extended, highly challenging, treatment case. Photography, music, and artwork will be used as part of this presentation. Cases will be presented to illustrate how a relational and attachment-based treatment, along with creative expressive therapies transformed unresolved loss into healing.

The power of the therapeutic alliance will be emphasized. Experiential exercises will be conducted to help participants “feel what the patient feels” and also “feel what the therapist feels”. A lively discussion will be facilitated as part of this presentation.

Clinicians from all theoretical backgrounds and levels of experience are welcomed.

Confidentiality notice: All case material will be carefully disguised. We ask that participants agree to hold all material presented with the utmost care, following ethical professional guidelines.
